Hi, our family switched over to Electricity Maine because we like to support Maine business's. I receive paperless bills through cmp. Recently I received a bill from electricity Maine. I called immediately and paid my bill in full. A week later I was at home with my baby and the power went out. It was a rainy windy day and we live on a large hill, I assumed the entire area lost power. That evening we noticed all our neighbors had power. When I called cmp they informed me that we had been disconnected due to non payment. We pay all our bills. I explained I had just called last week to pay our entire bill. They explained that I had called electricity Maine instead, and they took my payment. Electricity Maine never told me I owed a separate bill to cmp. When I told the , "I would like to pay my enitre bill" wouldn't you assume as a reputable company they would mention I still owe cmp? I receive one bill from CMP and electricity Maine, send out one check to pay for my power. Now I am sitting in the dark on a cold night with a sick baby. I am furious and disappointed with electricity Maine for not being honest with me.now we are told that we can not recieve power back until the morning when cmp opens. I will be cancelling electricity Maine ASAP.

Hello H. Graiver, we are very sorry hear about this misunderstanding. We understand how confusing this can be and we do strive to provide clarity and transparency regarding our processes. The MPUC requires Electricity Maine to set up our own separate payment arrangements for past due amounts on the supply charges of your bill. Additionally, we are not allowed to collect on the CMP delivery portion of your bill. Again, we can certainly understand your frustration and we apologize if this was not made clear to you. Please feel free to reach out to us and we would be happy to discuss your account further with you and answer any other questions you might have. 1-866-573-2674.

Hello Ryan, We are sorry but at this time we do not have a partnership with AAA. HOwever, that is certainly an excellent suggestion for us to explore. I will pass this along for consideration. Thank you Ryan!

If you joined when Electricity Maine first opened shop and there was only 1 plan, how do you know what plan you fall under now? And if you want to change plans, how do you change the plan?

I was one of the early adopters to Electricity Maine. Back then, your pitch was that "We will always be cheaper than the Standard Offer." Did you abandon that policy? Will that policy be honored for those of us who supported Electricty Maine when it was still in diapers?

Hello Norman. Thank you for your message. Sorry if there appears to be any confusion regarding our “pitch”. Our official messaging when we first started was that “It is our goal to always be competitive to the Standard Offer.” Which in our opinion still holds true today. When Electricity Maine first started nearly 2 years ago we were the first to offer competitive electricity rates to Maine residents. As a result we were able to come in significantly lower than your only other choice... the Standard Offer. Since that time, the Standard Offer rate has come down to be more competitive and other suppliers have decided to offer competitive electricity rates to residents as well. This is great news for consumers, because 2 years later, Mainers are now paying much lower rates as a direct result of competition! The flip side of this is, as electricity suppliers we are all now offering very similar competitive rates. Now you will find that much like shopping for a phone carrier or cable service provider you will be looking to see what "other" things we have to offer that set us apart differently. As a LOCAL company, it is our focus to make a difference in our communities through our Power to Help Fund. Our FIXED 18 mo. rate actually allows for 2% of your supply bill to go back to local Non-profits (of your choice), while providing extended protection against expected rate increase in the electricity market. Please know the Standard Offer will change March 1st of every year.
